SpareOne has unveiled a new phone this week at CES which is equipped with a massive 15 year battery life. The SpareOne has been designed to provide emergency backup and uses a single AA battery to provide power for a 15 year shelf life.

The new SpareOne design looks like any other mobile phone, expect where the LCD should be there is a battery compartment.SpareOne says the phone will work with any AA battery, but an Energizer battery is recommended. But remember the mother company of SpareOne also owns Energizer.


But Energizer claim their ultimate lithium battery can be left for 15 years without usage and still provide 10 hours talk time.

The SpareOne phone will be sold in three different versions a GSM 850/1900 for parts of America, 3G model for Japan and a GSM 900/1800 model for the rest of the world.

Google has launched a new feature for developers of its Android apps, a new website called Android Design, and Google are looking to improve the design of third party applications for Android.

The website is designed to help developers make their applications look better, and it has lots of information on how apps can be integrated with Android 4.0 ICS, as well as information on how to design better user interfaces.


The Android User Experience Team is committed to helping you design amazing apps that people love, and this is just the beginning. In the coming months, we’ll expand Android Design with more in-depth content. The other day OnLive announced a new application for the iPad, the OnLive Desktop, which is a cloud based app that will let you run a Windows 7 desktop on your Apple iPad.

OnLive has now released the app and it is available to download for the iPad from the US iTunes store, at the time of writing it only seems to be available in the US store at the moment.


The OnLive Desktop app will let you run a number of Windows applications on your iPad, like Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and all the applications are run from the cloud.

The service is free at the moment and you get 2GB of storage, OnLive will be launching a pro version in the future which will come with 50GB of storage and more applications they expect to charge around $9.99 a month for the service.

Motorola recently announced their latest Android smartphone for Verizon Wireless, the Motorola Droid 4, which comes  with 4G LTE, plus a dual core 1.2GHz processor and it will run Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, plus if features a 4 inch qHD scratch resistant touchscreen display and 1GB of RAM.


Other specifications on the Motorola Droid 4 include a slide out QWERTY keyboard, plus an 8 megapixel camera,a 4G LTE mobile hotspot which can connect up to 8 devices via WiFi, 16GB of built in storage plus a microSD card slot, have a look at the video of it in action below.

Earlier this week Sprint announced their latest Android device, the LG Viper 4G, and with the announcement came some of the devices specifications but not all of them.


Now it looks like the full specifications for the LG Viper 4G LTE have been revealed, which include a 4 inch WVGA Touchscreen display, a dual core 1.2 GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

We now know that the LG Viper 4G LTE will also come with 4GB of built in storage, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front facing camera, plus DLNA, NFC and a 1700 mAh battery.

 Nokia recently launched the Nokia Lumia 710 in the US, and they also announced that it would be rolled out worldwide within the coming weeks, and it appears it will go on sale in the UK next month.

As a reminder the Nokia Lumia 710 features  Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and it features a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, processing is provided by a single core 1.4GHz processor and it also comes with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of built in storage.

The Nokia Lumia 710 features a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and it is capable of recording HD video in 720p at 30 frames per second, there is also a 1,300 mAh battery and it comes with Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a micro USB port.

A new devices has been unveiled which has been created to combine both traditional board games with digital elements to make traditional gaming more interactive. The device pictured below is not a tablet or touchscreen, but uses gaming figures. Which is recognises and interacts with.


The ePawn Arena has been designed for Dungeons and Dragons style games and in the demo experienced by DVICE, figurines placed on the Arena can interact with each other. Watch the unique ePawn Arena in action after the break.

Whilst playing one figurines are able to attack one another with weapons and magic spells, and if a map is programmed with "walls” the attacking figurine’s spells will be blocked and no effects will be shown.
