Facebook 2.0 For Android Launches Built Using Native Code For Performance
Facebook has launched a new version of their Android app today taking
it to version 2.0, which has been built with native code to improve
speed and performance on Android devices.
The new performance tweaks have improved load times considerably with
the application and images opening and loading quicker than the
previous version, helping you to navigate to new updates from your
friends with ease.
Other new features include the News feed and Timeline will now also
load faster, and the new Stories bar lets you see more stories without
refreshing the page, together with a smoother user interface. To find
out more technical details jump over to the Facebook Android App engineering notes.
"Today, we’re releasing a new version of Facebook for Android
that’s been rebuilt in native code to improve speed and performance. To
support the unique complexity of Facebook stories across devices, we’re
moving from a hybrid native/webview to pure native code, allowing us to
optimize the Facebook experience for faster loading, new user interfaces, disk cache, and so on.”
The new Facebook 2.0 for Android application is now available to download for free from the Google Play Store.
