Gmail Calling Now Available Worldwide From 150 Destinations With Cheaper Call Prices (video)
Last year, Google made it possible for U.S residents to call any mobile phone
or landline directly from their Gmail accounts. Google has now rolled
out a new update to the service making this available to 150 locations
worldwide in 38 languages.
You can now buy calling credit in your choice of four currencies :
Euros, British pounds, Canadian dollars or U.S. dollars and there are no
connection fees, so you only pay for the time you talk. Watch the
promotional video created by Google explaining the new update.
Google has also lowered their call rates:
"For example, it’s now only $0.10 (or €0.08) per minute to call
mobile phones in the U.K., France or Germany (landlines are $0.02/min),
$0.15/minute to call mobile phones in Mexico and $0.02/min to call any
phone number in China and India.”
The complete list is available on the Google website rates page.
As Google rolls out the new feature to Gmail users over the
coming days, once its enabled in your account you will see a green phone
icon displayed at the top of your chat list and you’ll be ready to make
calls.
