Sony recently announced their first smartphones under the Sony brand,
which will take over from their previous smartphone brand of Sony
Ericsson, and one of those devices is the Sony Xperia S.
Now it looks like the Sony Xperia S will be available in the UK from
March, as one online retailer has put up a SIM free version of the
smartphone for pre-order, and the device will be available for £467.99
SIM free including taxes.
Of course some of the mobile
carriers may start selling the device before this date, although we
haven’t had any release dates from any of the carriers as yet.
The Sony Xperia S comes with a range of impressive specifications, it
will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread at release, although Sony has
promised and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the handset.
It features a 4.3 inch HD display, which comes with a resolution of
1280 x 720 pixels, this means it will be able to display HD videos in
720p, and it will also feature a dual core 1.5GHz processor and 32GB of
built in storage.
The Sony Xperia S features a 12 megapixel camera on the back which will be capable of recording full HD video in 1080p and it also features Sony’s Exmor R sesnor.
Up front there is a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat, the front facing camera can record HD video in 720p, and will also come with HDMI, DLNA and NFC, plus Sony’s own Bravia Sync software.
It looks like the SIM free Sony Xperia S will be available from the
