If you are looking for a more compact style of personal transport, the new folding Voltitude V1 electric bike which has this week gone up for pre-order, might be worth more investigation.

The Voltitude V1 model, features a patented EasyFold system allowing for a super quick 1-second folding and unfolding mechanism to be used. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Voltitude V1 bike project and see it in action.

The Voltitude V1 electric folding bike is powered by a 250 W electric motor with an integrated torque sensor that provides motor assistance up to an electronically-limited 25 km/h (16 mph) in keeping with EU regulations. The 11.6 Ah, 36 V lithium-ion battery provides a range of around 40 km or 25 miles, depending on the terrain and amount of effort the rider is willing to exert.

The Voltitude V1 weighs approximately 27kg and is available to pre-order at CHF 4,990 or $5,472, together with a more expensive model the Cabonesium priced at CHF 7,990 or $8,762, with them expected to start shipping on March 30th 2013 and April 30 2013 respectively.
