Today Toshiba has announced the upgrade of its Canvio range of external storage drives with USB 3.0 connections. The USB 3.0 upgrade has been rolled out across the entire range from the top of the line right down to the basic drives.

At the higher end of the range user can also benefit from 256-bit encryption and anti-shock drive parking together with NTI’s BackupNow EZ software.

Enabling you to back up your data either locally or to the cloud, with the ability to specify specific files and folders. It’s unclear, however, if the online storage is free, and if so how much storage is included with the drive.

The new Toshiba Canvio 3.0 drives are now available in three sizes 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB that cost $90, $110, and $140, respectively.
