Some of our readers will remember the Sony Xperia Sola which was announced a while back, Sony have yet to give an exact launch date for the device, although it looks like it is now available in Hong Kong for about $387.

The Sony Xperia Sola features a 3.7 inch Reality Display with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine, and the handset is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread,with an ICS update promised for the summer.


Other specifications on the Sony Xperia Sola include a dual core 1GHz processor, plus XLOUD and 3D surround sound, and the handset will come with NFC and will also use Sony’s Smart Tag technology and the device will come with two NFC enabled ... Read more »

The Sony Xperia S has already been available in the UK, however its smaller cousins, the Xperia P and Xperia U, have not yet arrived in stores. That will change soon since both devices are now set to become available in the UK during the week of May 7. That means that in just a few weeks you’ll have the entire new Xperia line available to choose from in the UK. Choose wisely.
 

Of course if you don’t want to wait, you can pre-order the Xperia P or the Xperia U right now from Clove. The Xperia P is £330 and the Xperia U is £204.

If we learn anything else we will let you know. Prices should not change though since we are so close to launch.

Criminals have always had an eye out for Apple products. They are expensive and in demand, so it isn’t hard to find a buyer for a hot Apple product. Right now thefts involving iPhones and iPads are up 44% in New York so far this year. As of April 15th, there were 1,196 thefts of this kind reported to the NYPD compared to 831 from the same time last year.


One officer said that walking around with an iPhone or iPad is like waving a wad of cash around. The latest case was the robbery of an Apple iPhone belonging to a 26 year old chef who was murdered. His iPhone was stolen, but his wallet was not touched. That should show you that the officers statement is clearly true.

Google and Samsung have now solved a problem with sudden signal drops on the Galaxy Nexus. A minor update to Android 4.0.4, IMM76I, solves the issue and gives the phone consistent performance once again. Some owners have pointed to another fix on the lock screen when automatic brightness is on as well.

The update will be rolled out gradually over the air for those with a HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus. Verizon owners are still on 4.0.2 will have to wait for the update, though you may not need it. We aren’t sure if Sprint owners have the problem at all.

HTC has announced a brand new Android smartphone for Japan: the HTC One J. Well, not brand new. This isn’t a new device. It’s just a redesigned HTC One S with Wimax connectivity made for KDDI au. The One J has the same features as the One S.

You get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4.3 inch qHD display, Beats Audio technology, Bluetooth 4.0, an 8MP rear camera, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.

The device will come in three color versions: all black, black with red, and all white. Those who want it in Japan can get it in one of those colors when it is released by KDDI in late May.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office recently published details on an interesting Microsoft patent. The patent relates to a two-sided smart device display system for phones and tablets. It features an integrated second low-power, possibly E Ink, display on the back that would show certain types of information.

The secondary display could come in very handy for getting things like a clock off of the main display to free up space. It could display other information that might otherwise not be shown. n standard Mac system gaming style, and just seven or so years after arriving on PC systems, Quake 4 has now arrived on Apple Mac machines. Quake 4 is the fourth title in the series of the Quake first-person shooter games, and was developed by Raven Software, id Software and published by Activision back in 2005, and is now available to purchase from the Apple Mac store for $19.99.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be officially unveiled on May 3 and so LG is also preparing a new Android smartphone that will compete directly with it. Verizon Wireless has this week announced that they have rolled out a new update to the HTC Trophy 8107. The update which has been expected for sometime, has now finally arrived and brings with it a number new features and bug fixes to the smartphone.



To receive the new update simply plug your HTC Trophy into your Zune Desktop, and it should automatically download ready for you to use. During the process three updates will be installed which are OS 7740, OS 8107 and HTC Firmware.
