Apple is set to launch a new version of its AirPort Express very soon
and has now discontinued the old AirPort Express device (MB321LL/A)
Apple Insider is reporting. The new AirPort Express device is expected
to increase the signal strength by up to 2.8 times when compared to
previous versions, its thought.
A source close to Apple is also suggesting that Apple is preparing to
launch a update to the AirPort Utility for Mac version 5.6 which also
makes a reference to the next generation device within its release notes.
A snippet from the Apple AirPort Utility for Mac version 5.6 release notes reveals "Adds support for the AirPort Express 802.11n (2nd Generation) base station.”
The update would finalise the updates to the AirPort range following
on from recent updates rolled out by Apple to their Time Capsule and
AirPort Extreme base stations.
