Intel SSD 710 Series Breaks Cover

Intel has unveiled a new SSD today that is aimed at the data center in the enterprise market. The SSD has many features that are designed to make it perform as if it uses SLC NAND, but actually has cheaper MLC NAND inside. The SLC NAND is known to be more reliable.

The SSD 710 has Intel High Endurance Technology. That tech allows the drive to have up to 1.1 Petabytes written to it over its life. The SSD is offered in 100GB, 200GB, and 300GB capacities. The drive offers 4K random write performance of up to 1,700 IOPS.

The random read performance is up to 38,500 IOPS across the full span of the drive. The SSD will be offered in 1000 unit quantities at $649 for the 100GB version, $1289 for the 200GB and $1929 for the 300GB SSD.
