If you would like to be able to simultaneously watch 4 cable channels
or at least record from them at once without the need for a traditional
set-top cable box then the newly launched Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB CableCard tuner might well be worth checking out.
In the past InfiniTV 4 devices required you have a free PCIe slot
on your computer but now the device comes with USB connectivity and
will work with any Windows 7 PC. To use the device you will also need a
HDCP-compliant graphics card and it’s recommended you have a system with
a 2.0GHz dual-core or better processor together with plenty of storage
space for recorded media.
All you need to get from your cable
provider is a Multi-stream CableCARD (M-Card) which was then allow your
Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB CableCard to access four channels simultaneously,
and if 4 channels isn’t quite enough for you, Ceton are already working
on a 6 channel version which should be arriving in the near future.
The Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB CableCard is now available to purchase
online for around $300. You can check out an in-depth review of the
device over at the DMZ website.
