If you enjoy adventuring in to the wilderness, and need to tame the
element of fire whilst on camping trips. A new device called the
Sparxgear Fire Piston has been designed to provide an easy way to light a
fire without the need for a lighter or matches.
The Sparxgear Fire Piston uses and improves on fire starting
technology that first began in South East Asia and the Pacific Islands
as a means of kindling fire in prehistory times. The device which is
currently on Kickstarter, consists of a hollow cylinder and a piston.
Which is forced down the cylinder to create a ember. Watch the video
after the break to see the Sparxgear Fire Piston in action.
The Sparxgear Fire Piston creator Eric explains:
"Discovered in Southeast Asia, a fire piston works very much like
a diesel engine, (some people think the inventor of the diesel got the
idea from a fire piston) a piece of fuel, wood or cloth, is put on the
end of a piston and then quickly compressed. The compression causes the
fuel in the piston to combust allowing someone to then use it to start a
fire”
So if you think you could benefit from a Sparxgear Fire Piston on your camping trips to light fires. Head over to the Kickstarter website to make a pledge and help the Sparxgear Fire Piston make the jump from concept to production. |
