Office chairs, by design and intent, are dreadful contraptions. If
this weren’t true, then why do so many hard-working wage earners toiling
away at cubicle farms complain of sore backs and general lethargy? A
collaborative design duo are now trying to enliven the staid office
chair with the ‘Fitness at Work,’ a straightforward affair that involves
lots of curves and hyper-modern contours.
The funny part is the available 3D renditions and concept sketches don’t really indicate what makes the Fitness at Work ‘fit.’ In short, where’s the gadgetry?
Also, it can’t lay claim to being a healthy alternative, as far sillier office chairs
have already claimed such distinction. Actually the best way to get a
workout while actually engaged in productive financially compensated
labor is to work as a carpenter on weekends. Either that, or grow plants
and maybe crops in the office. Nothing beats being a steward of nature.
It also encourages self-sufficiency.
This is an oft-mentioned line, but as far as concepts go, the Fitness
at Work may never get past the drawing board. If it does then well,
well, here comes a flashy new office clutterer. |
