Apple’s logo of an Apple with a bite taken out of it is one of the most easily recognized logos in the world. Most of us see it and just think about technology, but it might surprise you to learn that Orthodox Christians in Russia see the symbol and think about ‘sin’.

The bitten Apple logo is a bit too close to the story of Adam and Eve for their taste. A translation of a news report in Russia suggests that some have even covered up the Apple trademark with a cross whenever they see it in the country.

Apples point of view is that it represents the apple that allegedly fell and hit Sir Isaac Newton on the head and lead to the discovery of gravity. The Soviet Church doesn’t care. They may even be thinking about passing anti-Blasphemy laws which could force Apple to change its logo in the cou ... Read more »

If you have been saving your money and were looking forward to paying $10,000 for a 55″ OLED TV from Samsung or LG, we have some bad news.

Both companies will most likely not ship their televisions in 2012. According to market researchers, it is hard to mass-produce those panels with acceptable yields (meaning the ratio vs. good and defective units). TV manufacturers are usually able to work the issues out, and the high price of the 55″ OLED TV sets takes this into account for the most part.

Basically, both LG and Samsung have to reach yields that they are comfortable with. It won’t happen in 2012 and it’s not clear when it would happen in 2013. We will have to wait and see.

With the arrival of Windows 8, the PC industry is using the excuse to flood the market with tons of new options. Take Acer’s new lineup of low-end desktops for the casual user. They are a bit unusual.

These ME micro towers have an Intel Core i5 or I7, 2TB HDDs and up to 16GB of RAM. The chassis comes with a recess desk on top with a USB port for easy charging of your smartphone.

You can also pick up an XC desktop, which is a space-saving unit that features an Intel Core i3, a 1TB HDD and up to 6GB of RAM.

Sound good? Prices for the ME begin at $700, while the cheaper XCs will set you back just $400. Not the most powerful options we’ve seen, but hey, Windows 8 made this happen.
