Its time to say goodbye to fingerprints on the outside of Xbox 360
consoles, as Microsoft has announced that it will be dropping the Xbox
360′s glossy finish and replacing it with a matte black finish.
The change from gloss to matte has already started and you should be
able to see the first new matte consoles in stores very shortly in
either 250GB & 4GB hard drive capacities. Microsoft hasn’t
completely dropped the glossy finish completely and may still use it on
limited edition consoles, such as the upcoming Gears of War 3 Console.
It must have been an exceedingly strange feeling for Epic, being on
the outside looking in at a type of graphics technology they couldn’t
quite support in their games when they’ve spent the past decade or so
setting the standard for game visuals in the industry. Even the
compromise they reached with the 3D technology they did manage to
implement for Gears of War 3 doesn’t seem to satisfy them.
"It felt like something we wanted to have. It was a feature we didn’t
want to be def

We’re not too proud and only marginally ashamed to admit we’re among
the few predominantly PC gamers who have not played Warren Spector’s
take on conspiracy theories and the cyborgs who investigate them. It’s
on the list though and this so-called "New Vision” mod just kicked it
up a few notches, as judging from the screenshots we perused on Steam
before hovering our cursor over the Buy button and chickening out at the
last minute, Deus Ex hasn’t aged gracefully.
We’re not sure why the mod took four
years to complete, but "with around 75% of the world textures remastered
at high definition,” it seems fairly comprehensive. We can only hope
some good Samaritan will be around to do the same for Human Revolution
ten years from now, despite the fact the HR looks a lot better now than
Deus Ex did back in its heyday.
It’s hard not to like, or at least respect a plucky indie outfit who managed to make a dinky tech demo
into a mega-selling franchise before even reaching a development stage
where QA wouldn’t even bother to turn up their noses on other games.
It’s pretty hard not to like one of the few purveyors of quality
hardcore RPGs left in the business either.
Which meant when Bethesda started threatening Minecraft creator Mojang with legal action over their new game
"Scrolls”, it was extremely difficult to know which way our knees
should jerk. It’s all in the early stages, but here’s what Mojang
founder Notch had to say on the issue:
"I agree that the word ‘Scrolls’ is part of that trademark, but as a
gamer, I have never ever considered that series of (very good) role playing games to be about scrolls in any way, nor was that ever the fo
