Microsoft has had to pull a new Microsoft Exchange 2013 Patch just hours after being released it to the public, due to issues with the message index service, which prevented Exchange 2013 users from searching their mailboxes.

The critical MS13-061 security update for Exchange Server 2013 was released by Microsoft to resolve three publicly disclosed vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server caused the Content Index for mailbox databases shows as Failed.


System administrators that had already installed the new MS13-061 security update for Exchange Server 2013, then had to create a work around by editing of registry keys for the patch to regain access for users to their mail.

Dell has introduced a new budget notebook for students and businesses. The Latitude 3330 is a lightweight notebook with a 13.3-inch, 1,366×768-resolution display. The company is also introducing a new Mobile Computing Cart can be used to store and transport up to 30 notebooks at once.

If you own a Windows RT device you might be interested to know that there is a way to be able to run ported Windows applications on Microsoft’s new Windows RT devices.

When Microsoft created their Windows RT operating system, they basically used the Windows 8 OS but cut it down to run on devices equipped with ARM-based chips instead of x86 processors, and will only run apps installed from the Windows Store, until now.


The team over at xda-developers has discovered a way to used a jailbroken Windows RT devices to run Windows desktop applications, and developers have already started to recompile apps so they can be side-loaded on the Microsoft Surface RT.

Microsoft has launched a new Disaster Relief application this week called HelpBridge, which has been created to simplify the process of notifying loved ones by simultaneously sending an e-mail and SMS to the communities you select & posting a message to your Facebook wall.  Watch the video by Microsoft after the jump to learn more about the HelpBridge project and see it in action.

During CES last week Viewsonic unveiled a trio of touchscreen monitors designed specifically to be used with Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 operating system.

The three new Viewsonic monitors take the form of the TD2340, TD2740 and TD3240 which are all scratch resistant, 10-point Windows 8 certified displays.

obii the eye tracking specialists who’s devices allow you to control your hardware using just your eyes, has this week announced the launch of a new product, in the form of the Tobii REX.

The Tobii REX has been designed to add eye tracking controls to Windows 8 systems, and takes the form of a USB peripheral that can be added to any existing system running Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 operating system.

 


The USB Tobii REX sits under your screen and has been designed to augment rather than replace your traditional mouse and keyboard inputs, says Tobii.

If you are looking for a new ultrabook, check out MSI’s sliding Windows 8 ultrabook, now ready for pre-order. If you have about $1100 to spare.

The MSI S20 Ultrabook looks like a thick tablet at first, until you slide out the keyboard from under the display. Then you have a slim notebook with a screen that has been locked in place at a 45 degree angle. The MSI S20 is up for pre-order from ExcaliberPC for $1099.

Word is that it is being shipped in Europe for around €999. It has an Intel Core i5-3317U processor, an 11.6” 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, along with a couple of USB 3.0 ports and a mini HDMI port.

Apple’s retail stores have been an amazing success, so everyone is trying to emulate it. Especially Microsoft. In 2012, it has been trying to do something similar, with simplistic architecture and ideas that remind people of Apple stores. Now Microsoft has announced that it will expand its retail presence.


The company will open six new retail stores in addition to the existing chain of 51. They will appear at the following locations: The Shops at La Cantera, San Antonio, Texas. Dadeland Mall, Miami, Fla. Beachwood Place, Beachwood, Ohio. Westfield San Francisco Centre, San Francisco. City Creek Center, Salt Lake City. And St. Louis Galleria, St. Louis.

Microsoft fans will be happy about this news.

Velocity Micro has taken the wraps off a new all in one system it is created sporting a 23.6 inch display and running Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system which launched at the end of October.
