The other day we heard a rumor that LG may be making Google’s next Nexus smartphone, the most recent one was produced by Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the device comes with a stock version of Google’s Android OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. When

Yesterday we were told by a couple of UK retailers that the HTC One X
would be available in the UK in April, and now it would appear that we
may have a possible release date.
Amazon has listed the HTC One X
one their UK website with a release date of the 5th of April, although
they have the device up for pre-order for £530, which is about £30 more
than other retailers in the UK.

US smartphone maker Blu has announced a new Android smartphone which they will be launching in Europe, the BLU Studio 5.3, which features a 5.3 inch display. The BLU Studio 5.3 is designed to be a budget Android device,
and it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is powered by an
800MHz MediaTek MT6573T processor, and it can take two SIM cards. 
The 5.3 inch display features a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, and the device also comes with WiFi and HSDPA, unfortunately those are all the specifications we have at the moment.

With Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS dominating the smartphone scene, Microsoft knows it’s in a catch-up mode to bring it’s Windows Phone software to many users. And they intend to do just that, rolling out its mobile software to a total of 23 more countries.

Microsoft is not limiting its software to just high-end devices,
also intending to have the Windows Phone software on less-expensive
phones. The roll out to 23 countries will bring to 63 the total number
of countries that officially carry the Windows Phone.

LG recently announced their first quad core Android smartphone, the LG Optimus 4X HD and now we have some more details on when it will be available in the UK along with some pricing. The guys over at Clove just dropped us an email to let us know that the LG Optimus 4X HD will be available in the UK from June and the handset will retail for £456 including taxes SIM free. 
As
a reminder the LG Optimus 4X HD features a quad core 1.5GHz NVIDIA
Tegra 3 processor, and it features a 4.7 inch IPS multi-touch HD
touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel

Last week HTC
announced a number of their Android smartphones would be getting the
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in March, and now HTC has revealed
that the update is also headed to some more of their devices. HTC announced that the HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt,
and the Droid Incredible 2 would be getting the Android 4.0 update, and
also said it is headed to the HTC Rezound and HTC Raider.

Back in December HTC added a number of new devices to their
bootloader unlocking tool, and now HTC has added a couple more devices
to the list which include the HTC Hero, Legend, Droid Eris and the myTouch 3g and myTouch 4G.
The HTC bootloader unlock tool allows you to unlock your HTC smartphone so that you can instal a custom ROM on your device.

We plan on releasing the updates that will allow you to unlock
your bootloader in the coming months, please keep an eye on this website

As you would expect in the run up to the Mobile World Congress
(MWC) starting this month on February 27th there are going to be a
number of leaked images and details arriving for different handsets. 
One such leak is the new Gigabyte GSmart G1355 which has unofficially
been spotted before its launch at the MWC. Gigabyte is probably more
well know for its computer components rather than its mobile phones, so its always good to see a new phone from a smaller player.

John Anastasiadis has created an innovative design concept for
BlackBerry in the form of this wrap-around concept smartphone. Many
designers seem to stay away from conceptual BlackBerry devices,
but at the moment BlackBerry needs all the help it can get to reinvent
its brand and line of smartphones. Perhaps they might take a few
pointers from this concept created by Anastasiadis. 
We
have featured a number of flexible screens underdevelopment here on
Geeky Gadgets. So the though of a screen that wraps its way around a
phone to be used on both sides, might not be to far away from reality.<
