He should’ve stuck to Cortana. No human girlfriend will ever
understand how bad it got with the Covenant and then the Flood. Nah,
kidding! The true backstory behind this Master Chief mystery is almost
too weepy to handle. The bad part is Eric Smith, the guy who spent a
ridiculous amount of dough to buy the MC armor from an artist, poured
out his heart in a long blog post explaining his life-changing buy. Turns out his fiancé dumped him.
Eric Smith, a certified geek and part time college instructor, went
through a crushing phase in his private life. To soothe the pain and the
empty hole where his sweetheart used to emotionally reside, he sold the
engagement ring he bought her and used the money on some good ole
Mjolnir. Then he recounted his odyssey in a long blog post.
The most poetic, Pulitzer Prize winning part:
I’ve seen other Master Chiefs. The

Over the weekend the Valve Steam forum was defaced by hackers redirecting requests for the forum to the hackers website.
Now after further investigation by Valve it looks like the hack went
deeper than originally thought and has compromised the main Steam
database.
The main Steam database contained information including user names,
hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing
addresses and encrypted
credit card information. Although Valve are still unsure
whether encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying
information was taken.

There is, however, a generous amount of unidentified person sailing
through the air. And smoke. Lots of smoke. Apparently that whole
mysterious teaser image thing worked so well for Bioware when they
announced Mass Effect at the VGAs last year that they are reprising the
same strategy to draw attention to their newest endeavour.
An endeavour which seems not so much a departure from the usual Bioware style of game as teleportation. Heroes have been blown up and buggies have been driven across sandy wastes in Bioware games
before and just in case you find yourself questioning the studio’s
action bonafides, be ye reminded, gentle reader, that the first ever
Bioware game was a mech simulator. At first glance it looks kind of like
they’re planning to bring their RPG touch to the Uncharted
crowd as they did with Mass Effect to the Gears of War formula. And

gamers where a little surprised, but I am sure very pleased to see a
beta version of the highly anticipated Mass Effect 3 game available as a
download
via Xbox live. The new Mass Effect 3 game isn’t officially being
released until March 2012 and it now looks like the beta release was
down to "human error”.
The beta release seemed to be particular available to those gamers who had who registered to be part of the Xbox Live Dashboard update.
Allowing them to enjoy access to a playable version of Mass Effect 3.
Unfortunately for its creators Bioware they were just as amazed to see
their new game available in beta form without their authorisation.
Bioware explained:
"Microsoft has advised us that through human error at their end,
content which was meant for internal beta testing was flagged
