Every
time a hot new gadget comes out, Colorware vomits its candy-colored
paint all over it and charges a huge markup because of it.
They must be
making a lot of money per paintjob, because even though I see lots of
gadgets on the streets, I never see any Colorware products, yet they
still produce them.
The latest victim? Apple’s "jewel” of a smartphone,
which now comes in hundreds of customizable colors for the low, low price of $1700
for the 64GB model.
Not only is there no option to order a iPhone with a
smaller amount of storage, but you can’t send your old phone in.
It’s
not all bad though, Colorware’s iPhone customizing webapp
offers a glimpse into an alternate universe where iPhones can come in

I think we can all agree that the Sony Xperia Tablet S did not do as well as Sony had hoped. That’s because they pulled the plug on the tablet
soon after its debut. Not a great move, but that’s what they did. Well,
if you own the Xperia Tablet S, here is some small bit of good news.
Sony Mobile has just introduced new firmware for the troubled tablet.
The latest firmware release will bring updates to a couple of
applications, like Socialife and Reader. It will also deliver support
for the SGPSPK1 speaker dock.
The update file is 65MB to 70MB, so you might want to download it
over a Wi-Fi connection. Sony may not have stood behind this tablet, but
at least you have this update.

Is it really true? Could Android tablets be gaining on the iPad?
According to Strategy Analytics, Android tablets are doing just that.
At the end of the third quarter, Android tablets had accounted for 41.3%
of all tablets shipped around the world. 
That was up from the 29.2% slice of the tablet pie the platform held the previous year. At the same time, the Apple iPad
saw its global share decline from 64.5% in Q3 of 2011 to 56.7 this
year. Windows share dropped over the same time span from 2.3% to 1.6%
while the others category slumped from 4.1% to .4%
And Apple hasn’t done itself a favor with the new iPad mini either. Priced at $329 compared to the $199 that those Android tablets command, we expect Android to continue climbing. Source

Acer is going to be launching a new Android smartphone
in the UK next month, the Acer Liquid Z110 Duo is a dual SIM smartphone
that features a 3.5 inch display with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.  The Acer Liquid Z110 Duo comes with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
and is powered by a 1GHz MKT 6575 processor and also comes with 512MB
of RAM and 512MB of built in storage, plus if features a microSD card
slot and comes with a 4GB card installed. There is also a 3 megapixel camera, a built in FM tuner, GPS, WiFi
and Bluetooth, pricing for the handset in the UK has not been
announced, although it is available in other European countries for 99
Euros Sim free, the device will go on sale in the UK next month. Source

Apple was ordered by a UK court a while back to publish a notice on
its website and also an advert in the UK press saying that Samsung did
not copy the design of Apple’s iPad.
Apple has now posted the message to their website, and you can see
some of the message that Apple posted below, saying that the Samsung
Galaxy Tab did not copy the iPad.
On 9th July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales
ruled that Samsung Electronic (UK) Limited’s Galaxy Tablet Computer,
namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple’s
registered design No. 0000181607-0001
Obviously Apple have tried to turn around the ruling of having to
post the notice, and have quoted the judge in the ruling, who basically
said that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab was not as cool as Apple’s iPad.

Apple’s latest tablet, the iPad
Mini is now available to pre-order, and the device will start shipping
next Friday the 2nd of November, prices start at $329 in the US and £269
in the UK for the entry level 16GB WiFi model.  The iPad mini
features a 7.9 inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1024 x 768
pixels and 163 pixels per inch, it is powered by a dual core A5X
processor and comes with dual cameras. On the front of the iPad Mini is a 1.2 megapixel FaceTime
HD camera for video chat and on the back is 5 megapixel iSight camera
for photos and video, it also comes with a battery that will give you up

We have seen a number of photos of the LG Nexus
4, a device which is reported to be Google’s next Nexus smartphone, and
now we have another one which looks like a press shot of the handset,
complete with the Nexus branding. The following photos were posted
to twitter via @evleaks, and we are expecting Google to officially
announce the LG Nexus 4 at their Android event next week on the 29th of October.  The
LG nexus 4 is rumored to come with Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie, and the
device will apparently come with 4.7 inch multi-touch display with a
resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, plus 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built in
storage.
The

photos and video, plus a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video

We have already seen some leaked photos of Verizon’s version of Nokia’s Lumia 820, the Nokia Lumia 822 and now it looks like the handset will land on Verizon Wireless on the 12th of November.  As
well as the Nokia Lumia 822 there will also be another Windows Phone 8
smartphone available on Verizon Wireless on the 12th of November, the new HTC Windows Phone 8x. Verizon
have yet to announce when the two new Windows Phone devices will land
on their network, and they have also not announced any pricing
information, as soon as we get some confirmation that these are the

US mobile carrier US Celluar are now offering the Huawei Ascend Y, and the budget Android smartphone is available for $30 when you sign up to a new two year contract. 
The Huawei Ascend Y201 features a 3.5 inch IPS touchscreen display
with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and it is powered by a single core
800MHz processor and comes with a 4GB microSD card pre-installed.
Other features on the Huawei Ascend Y 201 include a 3.2 megapixel camera for photos and video, and it comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread plus Huawei’s own HAP 5.1 UI.
