SpareOne has unveiled a new phone this week at CES which is equipped with a massive 15 year battery life. The SpareOne has been designed to provide emergency backup and uses a single AA battery to provide power for a 15 year shelf life.

The new SpareOne design looks like any other mobile phone, expect where the LCD should be there is a battery compartment.SpareOne says the phone will work with any AA battery, but an Energizer battery is recommended. But remember the mother company of SpareOne also owns Energizer.


But Energizer claim their ultimate lithium battery can be left for 15 years without usage and still provide 10 hours talk time.

The SpareOne phone will be sold in three different versions a GSM 850/1900 for parts of America, 3G model for Japan and a GSM 900/1800 model for the rest of the world.

Motorola recently announced their latest Android smartphone for Verizon Wireless, the Motorola Droid 4, which comes  with 4G LTE, plus a dual core 1.2GHz processor and it will run Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, plus if features a 4 inch qHD scratch resistant touchscreen display and 1GB of RAM.


Other specifications on the Motorola Droid 4 include a slide out QWERTY keyboard, plus an 8 megapixel camera,a 4G LTE mobile hotspot which can connect up to 8 devices via WiFi, 16GB of built in storage plus a microSD card slot, have a look at the video of it in action below.

We still don’t have any pricing details on the new Motorola Droid 4, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

Earlier this week Sprint announced their latest Android device, the LG Viper 4G, and with the announcement came some of the devices specifications but not all of them.


Now it looks like the full specifications for the LG Viper 4G LTE have been revealed, which include a 4 inch WVGA Touchscreen display, a dual core 1.2 GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

We now know that the LG Viper 4G LTE will also come with 4GB of built in storage, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front facing camera, plus DLNA, NFC and a 1700 mAh battery.

 Nokia recently launched the Nokia Lumia 710 in the US, and they also announced that it would be rolled out worldwide within the coming weeks, and it appears it will go on sale in the UK next month.

As a reminder the Nokia Lumia 710 features  Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and it features a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, processing is provided by a single core 1.4GHz processor and it also comes with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of built in storage.

The Nokia Lumia 710 features a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and it is capable of recording HD video in 720p at 30 frames per second, there is also a 1,300 mAh battery and it comes with Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a micro USB port.

As well as announcing the new Motorola Droid 4, Motorola and Verizon have unveiled another new Android smartphone, the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, which is basically a Motorola Droid RAZR with a larger battery.

According to Motorola, the original Droid RAZR was good for around 12 hours of talk time, where as the new Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX qwill give you up to 21 hours of talk time.


The Droid RAZR MAXX will come with a choice of either 16GB or 32GB of storage and it will be available on Verizon Wireless for $299 on a new two year contract when it goes on sale.

Sony has announced their first Xperia smartphone that will be produced under their Sony brand rather than the Sony Ericsson brand, the Sony Xperia Ion and it features a 4.6 inch HD Reality display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The Sony Xperia Ion is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor and it features 16GB of built in storage, there is also a 12 megapixel rear camera which can record full HD video in 1080p, and the camera uses Sony’s latest Exmor R sensor.


The Xperia Ion comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although Sony has said it will get an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it also features  LTE, NFC, HD sharing with DLNA, HDMI and Sony’s Bravia Sync.

The Sony Xperia Ion will be available in the US with mobile carrier AT&T in the second quarter of 2012.

As well as announcing the new Sony Xperia Ion, Sony also announced another new Android smartphone, the Sony Xperia S, which features a 4.3 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The Sony Xperia S features a dual core 1.5GHz processor and comes with 32GB of built in storage, there is also a 12 megapixel camera on the back which comes with Sony’s Exmor R sensor and can record full HD video in 1080p.


Up front there is a 1.3 megapixel camera which is capable of 720p video and it also feature NFC, DLNA, HDMI and Sony’s Bravia Sync, out of the box it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Sony have said it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

We heard recently that Sprint would be getting the white Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G< and the carrier has just announced that the device will be available on their network from the 8th of January.

The white Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G will be available for $199.99 when you sign up to a new two year contract with Sprint and it features the same specifications as the existing version.


Which includes a 4.52 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and a dual core 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos processor, you can find out more information over at Sprint.

We heard recently that Samsung may deliver a ‘Value Pack’ update for the original Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and the original Galaxy Tab tablet, which would bring some of the features of Android 4.0 ICS to both devices.

Now according to a report by The Next Web, Samsung has confirmed that they will not deliver a ‘Value Pack’ update for both devices, and both devices will not get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.


A Samsung spokesperson told the Next Web that becuase of the hardware specifications on both devices they are limited to Android Gingerbread on both devices.

It looks like LG has updated its original LG Optimus smartphone, the new device is called the LG Optimus 2, it has just appeared on LG’s website, and it looks like it is designed to be a budget friendly Android smartphone.

The LG Optimus 2 features a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, processing is provided by an 800MHz processor and it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.


Other specifications on the LG Optimus 2 include a 1500 mAh battery, a microSD card slot which can take up to 32GB cards, and it comes with a 2GB card installed.
