Samsung recently launched their first Windows RT based tablet,
the Samsung ATIV Tab which has been available in Europe, and we though
we also be headed to the US, although now it would appear that the
device will not be available in the US. Cnet recently spoke to
Mike Abary, who is the head of Samsung’s tablet business in the United
States, and he apparently told Cnet that Samsung will not be launching
their Windows RT based tablets in the US. Apparently

The fantastic $35 Raspberry Pi mini PC is turning t out to be extremely adaptable and has been used to create a wealth of wonderful DIY project, most of which we have featured here on Geeky Gadgets since the Raspberry Pi’s launch.

ILMVisualFX the company responsible for The Avengers movies special effects has released a new video this week that takes you behind the scenes of the film to show you how the computer animations were integrated with the human actors.
The 5 minute film reveals the computer animations used within The Avengers film, including a reconstruction of New York City, that used around 1,800 panoramas of real city buildings. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.

In-Win has this week added a new addition to their range of PC cases, in
the form of the newly launched In-Win D-Frame and H-Frame, which is has
been showcasing at the CES 2013 show in Las Vegas this week.
As
you can see from the images below both cases are very unique and have
been designed to reveal the inner workings of te systems and allow air
to circulate easily around the systems components. The
In-Win D-Frame pictured above is a limited edition case that is
available for $349, and has been constructed using aluminium tubing and
glass panelling. The other cane in the form of the In-Win H Frame is
another open case that takes inspiration from heat sinks.

at CES 2013 this week, announcing the arrival of the new Sigma DP3
Merrill, which is equipped with a 50mm F2.8 lens. The
Sigma DP3 Merrill is the next generation of cameras from the
manufacturer and offers a Foveon X3 image sensor with 46 megapixels to
hand, offering 4,800×3,200×3 layers and 44 recording megapixels
4,704×3,136×3 layers.

iBuyPower has unveiled a new line PC gaming system its added to its
range this week, in the form of the compact iBuyPower Revolt which
measures just 16 x 16 x 4 inches in size. The Revolt
gaming PC is equipped with a choice of Intel Core processors starting at

Mushkin has unveiled its latest solid-state drive products at CES
2013. The new products fall into the enterprise class of SSD devices
called ProSpec. The SSDs use enterprise-level MLC flash NAND.
Mushkin
says that the drives offer random read performance of 80K IOPS and
random write performance of 42K IOPS. The SSDs also promised a sustained

Avis, the car rental company has made another acquisition, this time it is the car sharing
network Zipcar, in a deal which is reported to be worth $500 million,
and the purchase, according to Avis is at a 50 percent premium over the
closing price of Zipcar in December. Zipcar was founded back in
2000, and has around 767,000 members and 11,000 vehicles throughout the
US and Canada, the UK, Spain and Austria, obviously Avis will be looking
to expand the service to more countries.
"By combining with Zipcar, we will significantly increase our
growth potential, both in the United States and internationally, and
will position our Company to better serve a greater variety of consumer
and commercial transportation needs.
