If you are looking for a mini stick PC with a little bit of extra power you might be interested in the new Hiapad Hi-802 which has been announced this week by Chinese manufacturer Hiapad.


The Hiapad Hi-802 is one of the first Android TV mini stick PCs to be equipped with a powerful quad-core processor, being powered by a Freescale i.MX6 quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 chip supported by 1GB of RAM.

Other features of the new Hiapad Hi-802 mini PC include Bluetooth and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, together with a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Engineers at Autodesk have this month unveiled a new device they have created that allows any surface to become a touchpad. The new Autodesk technology called Magic Finger is a small device that attaches to the end of your finger.

The Autodesk Magic Finger is equipped with a micro camera and optical flow sensor to identify services and detect any motion from the user. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Autodesk Magic Finger device can see it in action.


The Magic Finger attaches to the user with a simple Velcro binding allows you to use gestures such as slight pinch on tap to navigate computer applications.

A new video has been created with footage taken from the International Space Station (ISS) which shows the world from a different perspective with stunning effect.


The video effects were created by stacking image sequences provided by NASA, which then created the star trails and unique patterns, formed by lightning storms, satellites and even meteors.

The video was created by Christoph Malin who explains: "This video was achieved by "stacking” image sequences provided by NASA from the Crew at International Space Station. These Stacks create the Star Trails, but furthermore make interesting patterns visible. iTwin has today announced the launch of a new product to its range in the form of the new iTwin SecureBox, which has been specifically designed to bring hardware key-based security to your Dropbox account.

If you are looking for something a little more unique to type out your emails and documents on, you might be interested in this beer can keyboard which has been created for Staropramen, and was on show at Webstock a large blogging and social media event in Romania

We have been hearing rumors over the last few weeks that Apple will be holding a special event this month to unveil their new iPad Mini, the last date we heard was the 23rd of October and Apple has now sent out invites for an Apple event on Tuesday the 23rd of October.

The Apple iPad Mini event will take place at 10.00 AM Pacific Time in San Jose on the 23rd of October, you can see the invite Apple sent out below with the tag line ‘We’ve got a little more to show you.’.


Apple’s iPad Mini is rumored to come with a 7.85 inch multi-touch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the device is rumored to start at around $249 and there are apperntly going to be a number of different models both WiFi only and WiFi and 4G LTE with varying storage options.

After four long years of development Carl Zeiss has finally started shipping its Cinemizer 3D OLED Head Mounted Display (HMD). Carl Zeiss has released a number of different versions of their Cinemizer HMD since its introduction, and the latest version is now equipped with OLED displays.

The latest version is equipped with 850 x 600 resolution displays and is equipped with HDMI (v1.4), Apple (iPhone 3/4 and iPod touch) connectors and A/V inputs, ideal for Blu-ray players, gaming consoles such as PS3, XBox, or PCs and notebooks.

Apple is expected to announced their new iPad Mini next week, yesterday we heard a rumor that Apple would also be announcing their new Retina Display 13 inch MacBook at the same time, and now it would appear that Apple will also be unveiling a new Mac Mini.

According to the guys over at 9 to 5 Mac, Apple will unveil three different Mac Minis at their iPad event, which will include two models with standard configurations with different storage an processor choices, and a third version of the Mac Mini which will run OS X Server.

As with other computer system manufacturers that have unveiled new PC systems for the upcoming launch of Windows 8. Acer has today announced pricing and availability for its new line of touchscreen Windows 8 all-in-one systems, in the form of the new Aspire 5600U and 7600U.

Acer first unveiled its new Aspire 5600U and 7600U back in Computex 2012, and has now revealed that shipping for the new system will commence on the Windows 8 launch date of October 26th.

The Acer Aspire 5600U prices start at $999 and come equipped with a 23 inch screen and is powered by a processor up to an Intel Core i5 3110M, with 1TB of hard drive fitted.

The Acer Aspire 7600U systems start at $1,900 and come fitted with a larger 27 inch display with up to a Core i5 3210M processor fitted, support by a Nvidia’s GT640M graphics cards with 2GB of RAM. For more information jump over to the Acer website.
