A new concept has been created by French new media production company
Avoka, which has taken inspiration from traditional vinyl record
players, and takes the form of the very unique Dyskograf.
The
Dyskograf is an interactive sound installation that allows users to
create music by making marks with a felt pen onto paper, and relies on
the camera positioned above to transform them into audio sounds, rather
than the needle.
The
team of creators behind the unique Dyskograf music installation have
created a custom designed software which in conjunction with the camera
detects marks written on the paper records, with each mark creating an
individual sound within the loop. Check it out in the video below.

At the moment there are two versions of Apple’s iPad available, the iPad 2, which was last years model and the new iPad 3 which launched earlier in the year, Apple is also expected to announce a new iPad Mini at their press event tomorrow.
This would mean that Apple would offer three versions of the iPad,
with three different price points, but according to a recent report when
Apple releases the new iPad mini they will phase out the iPad 2.
This would make sense for Apple to offer the iPad Mini and the new
iPad alongside each other, of course this has yet to be confirmed by
Apple, we should have more details at tomorrow when the new iPad Mini is
announced.

We all know that film is dead and dying. People are taking taking
more photos than ever, just not with old-fashioned film. However, Lomography is doing their best to keep film alive for those who love it.
There are good reasons to use film still. Medium format cameras
produce photos with more detail than almost any DSLR can match, after
all. And so Lomography has introduced a new 6×12 medium format film camera that even comes with a retro bellows.
You
can choose from three versions of the Belair X 6-12: the Globetrotter,
the Belair, and the City Slicker. All three models include two lenses: a
90mm lens and a 58mm lens that is wide-angle. The City Slicker is the
cheapest, starting at €174.30 and coming in a black colorway. The other
two models have the same functions, but are different cosmetically. They
all have an aperture-priority auto-exposure system as well. Source

Apple’s logo of an Apple
with a bite taken out of it is one of the most easily recognized logos
in the world. Most of us see it and just think about technology, but it
might surprise you to learn that Orthodox Christians in Russia see the
symbol and think about ‘sin’.
The bitten Apple logo is a bit too close to the story of Adam and Eve
for their taste. A translation of a news report in Russia suggests that
some have even covered up the Apple trademark with a cross whenever they see it in the country. Apples
point of view is that it represents the apple that allegedly fell and
hit Sir Isaac Newton on the head and lead to the discovery of gravity.
The Soviet Church doesn’t care. They may even be thinking about passing
anti-Blasphemy laws which could force Apple to change its logo in the

If you have been saving your money and were looking forward to paying $10,000 for a 55″ OLED TV from Samsung or LG, we have some bad news.
Both companies will most likely not ship their televisions in 2012.
According to market researchers, it is hard to mass-produce those panels
with acceptable yields (meaning the ratio vs. good and defective
units). TV manufacturers are usually able to work the issues out, and the high price of the 55″ OLED TV sets takes this into account for the most part. Basically,
both LG and Samsung have to reach yields that they are comfortable
with. It won’t happen in 2012 and it’s not clear when it would happen in
2013. We will have to wait and see. Source

With the arrival of Windows 8, the PC industry
is using the excuse to flood the market with tons of new options. Take
Acer’s new lineup of low-end desktops for the casual user. They are a
bit unusual. These ME micro towers have an Intel Core i5
or I7, 2TB HDDs and up to 16GB of RAM. The chassis comes with a recess
desk on top with a USB port for easy charging of your smartphone.
You can also pick up an XC desktop, which is a space-saving unit that features an Intel Core i3, a 1TB HDD and up to 6GB of RAM. Sound
good? Prices for the ME begin at $700, while the cheaper XCs will set
you back just $400. Not the most powerful options we’ve seen, but hey,
Windows 8 made this happen. Source Engadget
