Yesterday we heard that Dell has teamed up with Chinese search engine Baidu to produce a range of smartphones and tablets
using the companies new Yi OS, and now according to a recent report we
may see the first Baidu powered devices launching in November.
Considering the partnership was only announced yesterday, November
seems pretty quick for us to see the new hardware powered by the Yi OS,
although Dell could have been working on the devices for some time.
Baidu’s new software platform will feature map, e-book reader, cloud storage and search functions, while Dell’s Android-based
application for customers to purchase new PC products online as well as
giving ratings for its products may also be included in the software
platform, the sources noted.
It will be interesting to see what the devices are like, and whether
Dell will be able to make their new Baidu powered smartphones and
tablets popular in China.
