Samsung unveiled three new smartphones late
Monday. The Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y will all be powered by the
company's bada OS. "We’ve produced easy-to-use smartphones that will
inspire the market,” said JK Shin, president and head of Samsung’s
mobile communications business. News first appeared about a new smartphone device from Samsung last week after information was spotted buried inside the Korean company’s own Android app made for the forthcoming IFA conference. And now the confirmation is here.
In a post late Monday on the company’s official global blog, not one
but three new smartphones were announced – the Wave 3, the Wave M and
the Wave Y.
All three devices will run on the company’s bada 2.0 platform, which
"brings together a wide variety of new capabilities including
multi-tasking, Wi-Fi Direct, voice recognition and Near Field
Communication,” the post said. The phones will also be loaded with
Samsung’s new instant messaging service, ChatON, which will work across all major mobile devices.
The cheaper phones could be a hit in emerging markets, and will sit alongside other (Android) offerings in the same field announced by Samsung last week.
