Hard drive and peripheral manufacturer LaCie
has today unveiled a new addition to their range of external solid
state disk (SSD) drives, with the unveiling of their new LaCie Porsche
Design Slim Drive. The Lacie Porsche Design external drive is
available as either a solid state disk 120GB (SSD) or a more traditional
500GB HDD, and comes equipped with a USB 3.0 port for super-fast data
transfer.
LaCie’s new Porsche external Slim Drive range, is the thinnest LaCie
have created, being 30 percent thinner than previous models, and encased
aluminium. LaCie explains:
"Designed with Apple® enthusiasts
in mind, the LaCie P’9223 Slim SSD version is up to 10 times faster than
USB 2.0. The USB 3.0 interface is bus-powered and delivers 400MB/s
transfer speeds. This allows a photographer to move large photo files in
no time while in the field. Thanks to UAS* support, this product gets
even better speeds on the latest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or MacBook Pro with Retina Display running the most recent version of OS X® Lion or Mountain Lion.” The new Lacie Porsche Design Slim Drive is priced at $100 for the 500Gb drive, and $150 for the 120Gb solid state disk (SSD) version. |
