It has been reported this week that Apple is looking to start trial production of its new iPhone 5 S smartphone according to the  to a Chinese-language Commercial Times website.

According to the Chinese based website, Apple is rumoured to be starting production trials in December for its new iPhone 5s with initial production volumes likely to top 50,000-100,000 units, according to the report.


The Commercial Times report explians in their publication:  "Facing low yield rates in the production of iPhone 5, Apple has accelerated the certification processes for related parts and components for the iPhone 5S, the paper revealed.”

This week Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has announced in an interview with a French newspaper, that sales of their new Surface Windows RT tablet which launched late last month, are "Starting Modestly”.

However CEO Ballmer would not divulge any exact figures on sales of Microsoft’s new Windows RT Surface tablet. Explaining that the modest sales are likely due to the Windows RT Surface tablet only being available to purchase online and via a few Microsoft stores across the US.

iZettle has this week announced that their mobile payment service will shortly be launching in the UK, enabling small businesses to accept credit card payments using their mobile devices.

iZettle has partnered with Everything Everywhere the new company created by  Orange, T-Mobile and EE in the UK to enable customers to easily sign-up for the new service.

If you have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the new LTE iPad Mini you will be pleased to learn that Apple has now confirmed that the new smaller iPad Mini Apple tablet will start shipping this week.


Up until now Apple has only been shipping the Wi-Fi only version of their new iPad tablet, but has recently sent out notifications to customers that the new iPad Mini supporting 3G/4G LTE networks will ship this week.

Apple has also just released four new iOS 6.0.1 firmware downloads available to support the new models today, which include two versions (GSM and CDMA) of both the LTE iPad mini and iPad 4.

Google recently dropped the price of their 16GB Nexus 7 tablet by $49, and it would appear that there is some good news for anyone who purchased a Nexus 7 tablet recently.

Google has decided to refund the price difference of $50 to anyone who purchased the Nexus 7 tablet, just before they drop the price down from $249 to $199.


Nexus 7 (16GB version only) purchases from Devices on Google Play are currently eligible for Price Protection if the purchase was made on or after October 14, 2012. If your purchase is eligible, we’ll refund the difference in price within 14 days of your request.

Today the latest version of the budget Aakash 2 Android tablet has been unveiled in India, which will be sold to Indian students at a subsidised price of Rs 1,130 around $21.

The Aakash 2 is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor supported by 512MB of RAM and is equipped with  a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display, and will run Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.


Other features of the new Aakash 2 Android tablet include  4Gb of onboard storage, a microSD card slot, USB port and 3,000 mAh battery, The Android OS website explains:

Pictures have been leaked this week of a new Chromebook which has been created by Acer and will be their second Chromebook to be launched. The new Chromebook takes the form of the Acer AC710 and has been revealed on the French website Mini Machines.


The new Acer Chromebook laptop is identical to the Acer Aspire V5-171 notebook, but comes running Google’s Chrome operating system, with a Chrome logo on its case.

The Acer AC710 is fitted with a 11.6 inch display, sporting a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is powered by a Intel Core i5 Sandy Bridge Processor supported by 6Gb of RAM and includes a 500GB HDD.

AT&T recently put the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 up for pre-order, and the device is now available to buy in AT&T stores and also from AT&T’s website and the device will set you back $499.99.


The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes with a 10.1 inch display and it comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and features a 7,000 mAh battery, and a dual core 1.5GHz processor.

Other specifications on the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 include a front facing VGA camera for video chat and a rear facing three megapixel camera for photos and video, the device will be available for $499.99 from AT&T without a contract, you can find out more details over at AT&T.

It would appear that Samsung and Verizon are getting ready to launch a new Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Samsung Ativ Odyssey, which you can see in the photo below that was leaked by @evleaks.


The Samsung ATIV Odyssey is rumored tpo feature a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the device is expected to feature a dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and an Adreno 225 GPU.

Other rumored specifications on the Samsung ATIV Odyssey include 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built in storage, the device is also expected to feature an 8 megapixel camera on the back which can record full HD video in 1080p.
